I work in the human resources department of a large factory. I am in charge of hiring new personnel. I accepted an application from a young man, who seemed very knowledgable of our daily operations. He conducted himself well during his interview, and he passed the company physical and drug screen. I really wanted to hire him, but he didn’t pass his forklift certification test. I was disappointed to hear that he failed the test, as this meant that I could not offer him a position with our company. We require all of our employees to be able to operate forklifts.
